Polly had such a short and honestly unfair life. We tried to make her time here the best it could have been but since someone had neglected her at a young age, she had permanent scarring in her nasal passages from chronic respiratory issues and she had issues with food. When she came to us we loved her, gave her a warm place on the couch and gave her the medical attention she needed. Her life was pretty darn good with us I thought. But then a month ago I thought she was acting strange but couldn’t put my finger on it. I finally took her to the vet to be told she had days left due to a massive splenic tumor that was actively bleeding. She only had 9 years! I think what is hardest about her passing is how life was so unfair to such a kind and gentle cat. She had the softest fur you could imagine as well. My 4 year old comes home from school everyday with more artwork for Polly because they were so close. Polly loved my daughter and my daughter loved petting her and giving her treats. My dad who also passed unexpectedly right before Christmas was very fond of her and so we think that my dad called her to join him. Right now she is probably enjoying his lap and his neck scratches he would give her.
It was so hard to put her down but she was suffering that last day. I don’t think I’ll ever get over the unfair hand life dealt her but at least I could make her passing less painful.
