Matisse

In loving memory of Matisse

It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my beloved Matisse. Born to Zeus and Beauty, Matisse was originally named Show Piece, but he was so much more than a showpiece—he was a loyal companion, a gentle protector, and a source of unconditional love.

Matisse had a spirit as unique as his name. He was full of grace and calm, but he also had a playful, adventurous side. He loved nothing more than to ride around in our “Blue Shoe” (a Chevy Sonic) or explore nature, always ready for the next adventure. His boundless energy in his younger years often led to unforgettable, mischievous moments—like the time he tore off the front of a kitchen cabinet or put a hole in the wall chasing his tail. These moments perfectly captured his joyful and curious spirit, always keeping me on my toes.

Beyond his energy and playfulness, Matisse had a quiet strength. He was a protector, not just for me, but for anyone he loved. His gentle presence brought peace to every room he entered, and he had a way of knowing when someone needed comfort. Whether it was a simple nudge or resting his head in your lap, Matisse gave so much without asking for anything in return.

He came into my life during a time of great change and offered me the kind of companionship that only a dog can. While he was my emotional support through difficult times, he was also a source of joy for everyone who knew him.

Eleven years wasn’t nearly long enough with him, but every moment we shared was a gift. Though he is no longer with us in body, Matisse’s spirit and memory live on in every walk we took, every adventure we shared, and in the quiet moments of simply being together. I am grateful for every minute I had with him—his unwavering loyalty, his joyful mischief, and the quiet peace he brought to my life, always reminding me that I was never alone.

Matisse was, and always will be, irreplaceable.

Rest in peace, my sweet “Mwa Twah” You were the best dog, and you will always be It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my beloved Matisse.
